Katie Hargreaves ‘Umbra Collection’ Art Exhibition – Wednesday 17th October to February 2019

The Umbra Collection – Katie Hargreaves

Umbra translates to shadow, shade, spirit from Latin. Katie says ‘I wanted to recognise the merging of both the technique in the art but also the spirit of the subject so it was perfect. A lot of my work explores absence and presence through shade and light- it’s like the animal is just appearing, or disappearing, depending on your glass half full/empty situation.’
Katie hopes the collection is seen as snapshots of life, as with many wild animals, there are only a few seconds from catching sight of each other to them disappearing from sight.
